I founded VitaV Wellness in Aging as a boutique coaching and consulting service for individuals and organizations who are interested in committing to a journey of cognitive wellness.
A Volunteer and Member of Dementia Alliance International's Professional Advisory Council, I am also accredited in Montessori-based Memory Care® by the Center for Applied Research in Dementia. My areas of expertise include dementia risk reduction and alternative, non-pharmacological interventions for those living with symptoms of dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
My first experience with dementia - as caregiver for my grandmother - left me with an overwhelming sense of hopelessness. Like most people, I perceived dementia as a death sentence from which there is no escape or relief. My self-directed research over the past decade provided a glimmer of hope which then manifest fully in my personal experiences with Dementia Alliance International and the Center for Applied Research in Dementia. I have seen and worked with people living beyond their diagnosis of dementia - defying the odds and living independently and with dignity for many years. It's not magic, it's common sense.
It's time to reframe dementia. Research gives hope that it is not simply an inescapable disease. I work with my clients to help increase brain-protective functions and decrease risk factors, within context of body, mind, soul and spirit.
